Sorry! I haven't been blogging regularly for about a week and a half and I wasn't keeping up with email and darn near totally ignored the news.
Irresponsible? Possibly.
Great vacation with family and friends? You betcha!
Come on, how was I supposed to blog when the two oldest pamphleteers were doing 30 minute shifts on the computer to play Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 and SimCity (not sure which version...).
Sure I could have gone upstairs and used the desktop, but I would have had to stop reading my book. Yup, I went retro and did some old fashioned analog printed on paper with ink reading. I knocked out a Clive Cussler (I know what you're thinking, but I just love those adventure novels), a John Grisham (I'm not a lawyer but after reading one of his novels I feel like I'm ready to take the bar and give Columbo a run for his money), Jimmy Buffet's new novel (this would be a good beach novel, it is like a several hundred page remix of "son of a son of sailor" - I liked it) and finally Patrick O'Brian's "Master and Commander" (Big mistake. It is the first book in a series of twenty odd books. I will read them all, could impact my blog time...).
I also gave the gift of blogging. For Christmas I gave Mrs. Hamilton's Pamphlets her very own blog. I will now shamelessly plug it Mommy Knits. Content warning: it is about knitting (duh!), so if you are really, really, really into knitting go have a look see. She's still in the early building and construction phase, but she knits some pretty cool stuff. So if you're into that sort of thing... Any-who, the Missus was setting up her blog and stuff, so didn't want to compete for computer time... (excuses, excuses)...
Finally, I have been working my way through the stages of grieving (Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Acceptance) as it relates to the *&$%&#*!! governor's race . I'm shifting between Denial and Anger. Haven't even made it to Bargaining yet. Depression and Anger are still way, way over the horizon. Due to my diligent ignoring of the news, the blogs, etc. during my oh so brief vacation I'm still not ready to dive in an wallow in the profound unfairness of it all... Yet. I'll get through a few never-ending meetings my zillion plus emails and get caught up from the stalwart few who have toiled on to keep us update over the holidays and then I'll come out guns blazing (still in that Anger/Denial stage...).
Happy New Year!!!
Free advice: Visit my blog today and stay angry!
We're having deja vu in King County - that's why you're so torqued!

Hey, Mr. Hamilton,
Finally checked out your blog. I think my wife will be interested in Mrs. Hamiltons web page so I will direct her that way.
I just wanted to say that I am in strong agreement with what you are saying about Christmas. It really is crazy how there is a major backlash on this holiday. I think it would be most interesting to see how the democrats would react if we removed all religious holidays along with the paid vacation times attached. I'm sure that would go over well with the unions...
On a seperate note, if you are fond of the Master and Commander series there is an interesting movie series I have been watching thanks to NETFLIX known as the Sharpes Shooter series also based in the Napoleonic era that is based upon a series of books.

Really, Alex. Another baby on the way and you give your wife a knitting blog? I bet she's a biker chick or a heavy metal roadie. Otherwise it's just all too...Red-Statesque.
I feel the same way about Grisham. I'm always like, eh, this ain't so hard. Who should I sue? when I finish one. Even when I was what, ten?
Soo... Master & Commander books are good, eh? I'll have to read em. And I hope Dino manages to point out every single little flaw in King County so everyone knows she's a total fraud. Then he'll go to DC as a senator and become famous and powerful. He'd make a good VP for someone in a couple years. Not next election, maybe one after that. When the kids are grown up and he's got a little grey. In the meantime, remember ladies... ahem. ; )

Hey Ninme you would be surprised, or maybe you wouldn't, at how amazingly Red-Statesqu we are. Nice house, chocolate lab, cat, 2 SUVs, 2.2 kids (living here) and yes I knit. I'll have to knit you a nice red scarf or maybe an orange one if things don't improve around this state.

(hahaha)
Thank you. That's very sweet of you to offer. I knit too, but not very proficiently. Just one cat. No dogs. No kids. Boyfriend owns a CRV. I aspire to Red-Statesqueness. I have red hair, which might be considered a type of orange. I can be the mascot. The honorary Red-Stater.
